General principle of versioning

When creating documents (such as menus), you can track individual versions of those documents. This is useful if you want to revert to the previous version later (and use it as a template for the next document, etc.). Within NET Genium, an unlimited number of such version numbers can be created. We can create documents in two ways - without versioning or using versioning.

Create a document without versioning

To create a new document without versioning, click on CRM in the upper gray bar and then click on Documents in the left navigation bar. In the next step, click on the New document button on the page. In the open form, we fill in the Subject, check the Person responsible, fill in the Document type, and check the Status. If we want to assign a document to an existing Contract, we will do so using a picker. We will upload the document we want to the Attachment and finally click on the Save button. On the page we now see the document we created without versioning.

Create a document using versioning

We will now show how to create a document using versioning. On the page, click on New document again. In the open document form, we fill in the Subject, check the Person responsible, fill in the Document type, and check the Status. We will write the number 1 in the Version field, because this is the first version of our document. We will also assign our document to a specific Contract. Now we will add the desired Attachment to the document and click on the Save and continue editing button. This saved our document, and the file name has now changed to our version number. Finally, click the save button. On the page we now see both a document created by versioning and a document without versioning.

If we want to create a new version of our last created document, we will open its record. Here we click on the New version button, which will create a new version of the document. With this step, the older version of the document was moved to the Archive documents. Now click on the Save button. We now see the latest version of the document created on the page.

If we want to look at older versions of the document, we click on Archive documents in the left navigation bar.
